Kids4Hope donate food, get ‘ultimate sundae experience’

Sometimes it takes a “cool” incentive to get kids involved in a project.

Kids4Hope, Community of Hope Church’s elementary school program, sponsored a friendly competition between the boys and the girls to see how much food could be donated for the holiday season to support the F.O.R. Maricopa food bank.

Approximately 40 students participated, bringing in about 340 pounds of food to be distributed to those in need.

The incentive or “motivation” was to have the ultimate Sundae Experience, held earlier this month.

Winners of the competition were the boys, who, in addition to bragging rights, got to turn their team leaders, Michael Crane, the elementary Bible leader, and Susan Drake, the elementary coordinator, into human sundaes.

“Fun was had for all, and they met a great need in the process,” said Lisa Akers, Community of Hope’s early childhood coordinator.
