Knorr sworn in as newest councilmember

It’s official: Maricopa City Council has installed a new recipient at whom to direct your exasperated emails.

AnnaMarie Knorr was welcomed as the council’s newest member during a swearing-in ceremony minutes before its regular meeting commenced tonight.

Councilmembers unanimously appointed Knorr their newest colleague during an April 23 meeting, trumping finalists James Singleton and Adam Leach.

“My goal is to make sure Maricopa is a great place to work and play and do what I can with the state and local authorities to make sure that we have the resources that we need for our growing community,” Knorr said after her appointment.

Former Councilmember Rich Vitiello vacated his seat in March after throwing his hat in the ring for a Pinal County Board of Supervisors seat in District 1.

Knorr is Exceptional Community Hospital’s director of community outreach and also serves as a member of the Maricopa Unified School District Governing Board. Last month, she said she plans to finish her term on the school board, unless the school board decides otherwise.
