Local singer and songwriter Freddie Duran is unveiling his new music video, and he wants all of Maricopa to come along for the show.

“It is a song that looks at the immigration issue from the average Mexican immigrant,” Duran said.

However, he added, the song by no means is meant to be a political statement.

The song, “Where the Birds Sing in Spanish,” and the video to the song will be premiered on a 12-foot screen July 12 at 8 p.m. at El Zocalo Grille, 28 South San Marcos Place in Chandler.

The video, directed by John Koop of Arizona Virtual Studios, was originally intended to be part of the soundtrack for a movie, in production, about the immigration issue.

“We’re sure it (the song) will become a substantial portrait that succeeds in capturing an unstable point of time in Arizona’s history,” Duran said.

Following the event, InMaricopa will bring the video to those unable to attend.
