The Boy Scouts of America local Boy Scout Troop 993 and Cub Scout Pack 997 have had a busy December in Maricopa.

Boy Scout TJ Radigan organized and conducted his Eagle Scout project earlier this month, a benefit concert featuring local high school bands “Inbound Revolution” and “TL;DR.”

The benefit, which included a book drive, was for the Boys and Girls Club of Casa Grande.

“My goal was to shoot for 1,000 books,” said TJ, a Maricopa High School senior applying to Princeton University. “That would be a good number.”

The concert drew about 100 local teens and members of the community, and garnered more than 2,000 books for the Casa Grande club.

The morning after the concert, Daniel Stinogel received his Eagle Scout award, the highest award given to Boy Scouts.

Less than 5 percent of boys who enter Boy Scouts ever receive the award. He was joined at the ceremony by family, friends, members of his troop and representatives from local veterans’ organizations.

Like TJ, Daniel had to complete a service project and refurbished the Maricopa Veterans Center building porch and entry. Daniel is the third member of Troop 993 to attain the rank of Eagle Scout since the troop was formed in May 2007.

Also this month, Cub Scout Pack 997 celebrated the holidays with its annual Holiday Christmas Party and a visit from Santa Claus.
