Maricopa Chorus, a performing-arts organization, is forming and looking for qualified singers.

An inaugural holiday concert is planned for December to include the “Hallelujah Chorus” from Handel’s “Messiah.” The chorus will be accompanied by Maricopa Music Circle chamber orchestra.

Youths and adults who can read music may contact conductor John Janzen at [email protected] or 520-568-1502.

Rehearsals will be 7 p.m. Monday nights starting Sept. 9 at Calvary Chapel, 44301 W. Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway. There will be a $40 seasonal fee.

Janzen is founder and artistic director of Maricopa Chorus. A Maricopa resident since 2008 and veteran choral leader, Janzen has a bachelor’s degree in choral conducting. Before moving to Maricopa, he conducted church choirs in Minnesota for more than a decade and this past spring he was musical director for the Maricopa Community Theater’s production of “A Little Shop of Horrors.”
