For Maricopans who are accustomed to getting their city updates on Orbitel’s Channel 6, it’s time to look further down the dial.

Orbitel Channel 20 is the new location for City of Maricopa programming as of October 16.

Currently the channel offers public information such as road closures, city meeting announcements and non-profit organization calendar items. Non-profits can advertise for two weeks, according to acting Public Information Officer Danielle Casey.

Non-profit and community events can be displayed along with government announcements on city Channel 20, which moved from Channel 6 last week.

Eventually the city plans to offer regular government programming like question and answer sessions with government officials.

It is also the city’s goal to offer the same government programming on Maricopa Broadband and Qwest, Casey said.
