Maricopa Dance Academy performing in Fiesta Bowl Parade Saturday

On Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009, the Maricopa Dance Academy will be performing in the Fiesta Bowl Parade.

“We are excited about this opportunity to showcase our dancers and have a great time celebrating the Fiesta Bowl,” stated Elizabeth Fujimoto, owner of MDA.

Approximately 20 dancers from MDA will perform with a group of East Valley dancers, ranging from the ages of 4-18. The parade is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m., with its route starting at Bethany Home Road and Central Ave. Spectators can attend the event for free, or purchase bleacher seats for $25.

Most recently, MDA dancers performed at the City of Maricopa-sponsored event, “Holiday Express Tour 2008,” on Dec. 13 at Pacana Park. The performance featured a trip on the “Holiday Express,” making stops around the world to watch dances from different countries. The event was a huge success, with a portion of the proceeds from concessions donated to Maricopa’s Park and Recreation Department. “We would like this to be a traditional event, featuring the same production each year,” stated Fujimoto.

Additionally, MDA dancers performed on Saturday, Dec. 6 at the Tempe Marketplace in front of a large, enthusiastic crowd.
