Master gardeners open house is Saturday

The public is invited to the Maricopa Master Gardeners’ annual open house and plant sale 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at 37860 W. Smith-Enke Road.

Several speakers are scheduled who can answer questions about drip irrigation, desert landscaping and vegetable gardening in Pinal County. There will be a tour of the agriculture center’s demonstration garden, greenhouse and orchards.

Plants, herbs, summer vegetables, grapes, and berry vines will be available for a suggested donation.

The Maricopa Master Gardeners has about 30 members who grow their own fruits and vegetables. They regularly give about 8,000 pounds of fresh produce annually to the various food banks.

Judy and Jerry Walp have been members for more than 20 years and Jerry will be one of the guest speakers.
