Maricopa Music Circle, Chorus perform Saturday

1941

Maricopa Music Circle and Maricopa Chorus will join forces 7 p.m. Saturday in a Spring Serenade concert at the First Baptist Church of Maricopa.

Music will range from contemplative pieces through many moods of celebration and romance and on to great melodies from the Big Band era and Broadway stage. Highlights include devotional numbers by Mendelssohn and Rutter, instrumental excerpts from operas by Bizet and Saint-Saens, pieces by Tchaikovsky and Debussy rooted in the dance, and a group of catchy tunes from the 20s, 30s and 40s.

Founded in 2010 as a small ensemble, Maricopa Music Circle has grown into a chamber orchestra bringing together local Maricopa musicians who primarily are music professionals – and it performs without a conductor.

Maricopa Chorus was founded last fall by director John Janzen.

The Spring Serenade will be Maricopa Chorus’ second performance with Maricopa Music Circle.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for children 10 and younger. They can be purchased online through brownpapertickets.com or [email protected].

The church is located at 18705 N. John Wayne Parkway.
