Maricopa resident Michelle Smith’s legal troubles with Anthony Tellez, a former area resident and owner of the forum 8523Mine.com, took her to a Fox television studio this past summer when Smith and Tellez appeared in the Los Angles courtroom of television personality Judge Alex.

“It was very interesting and exciting,” Smith said. “I was amazed at how fast paced the hearing was.”

Smith and Tellez went on the show to settle a dispute involving the purchase of a car.

Smith said she helped Anthony out by selling him her personal vehicle but Tellez skipped town without giving her a dime

“He essentially stole my car,” Smith said.

Tellez told the judge he did not skip town without paying. He claimed he signed a contract giving him two years to pay off the car without any particular schedule of payments.

Ultimately the judge ruled Tellez was not in violation of the contract, because the two years since its original signing had not passed.

However, the judge warned he could see both of them back in court in April when the contract term expires if Tellez has not paid off the car.

The airdate of the episode the Maricopa resident appeared on was in December, and the show is currently being aired on replays.

Smith said she was able to get on the show by calling in and giving the show’s producers the details of her case.

“I guess they were just interested in the case,” she said.

If the courts had ruled in Smiths favor, the show would have picked up the tab on the money owed to her by Tellez.

However, since the case went against her, she said she would continue to fight the former Maricopa resident through legal proceedings.
