A Maricopa resident was arrested and booked for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, armed robbery and negligent attempted homicide last weekend following an incident at Headquarters Lounge, 19680 N. John Wayne Parkway.

Luis Rodriguez, 41, was taken Saturday night to the Pinal County jail in Florence and booked. Rodriguez was initially escorted to Casa Grande Regional Medical Center to be treated for a head injury, but he declined treatment. A deputy on the scene reported that he believed the suspect was highly intoxicated at the time of his arrest.

According to the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office, Clayton Stewart, a doorman at the bar suffered a laceration to the neck at the hands of Rodriguez after escorting him out of the bar. The incident reportedly took place at the front door on the north side of the bar. When police arrived, Rodriguez was being detained on the ground by several individuals.

Rodriguez, who reportedly made a comment the evening of the incident about cutting someone’s throat, was still in custody as of this morning.
