Maricopa Rotary Club to host 22nd annual Oktoberfest

A steak big enough to cover a plate and tender enough to be cut with a plastic knife–that’s what Maricopa residents will be dining on at Rotary Club’s 22nd annual Oktoberfest.

Oktoberfest is an annual fundraiser and community event organized by the local Rotary Club; it is the longest running event in Maricopa next to Stagecoach Days.

This year’s event is going to be a little larger than in years past. “We normally cap the event at 200 people, but our cook told us this year he can handle 300,” said Karen Friess, Rotary club member.

Every juicy steak comes with four drink coupons, which can be used for soda, water or even alcoholic beverages.

Oktoberfest attendees will be able to participate in a silent auction, listen to some music and taste some wine. Performing popular country and rock music will be local band Positive Attitude.

The proceeds from the event will go to benefit community projects and scholarships for local children.

“This event is all about giving back to the community,” Friess said.
