A school book fair, Maricopa Police Department’s call to the clergy, high school sports and representation at the Arizona Meth Project’s unveiling of the statewide ‘Not Even Once®’ Youth Pledge will all take place this week in Maricopa.

Monday, Sept. 10:
Maricopa Friends of the Library will meet at 6 p.m. at the Pima Butte Elementary School library. Anyone interested in supporting the local library’s programs and projects is invited to attend.

Maricopa Elementary School’s Fall/Winter Book Sale begins at 2:30 p.m. and ends Friday at 4 p.m. Books starting as low as $2 each will be available for sale. All proceeds from the fair go to acquiring additional books for the school’s library. The school is located on N. Alterra Pkwy.

Tuesday, Sept. 11:
A Networking Maricopa group meets tonight at the offices of the Maricopa Chamber of Commerce to share leads and network. For more information contact Nicole at (480) 232-0480.

Maricopa Police Department will host a 6 p.m. meeting at the Global Water Resources facility on Powers Parkway for interested members of the Maricopa clergy regarding a chaplaincy program. Clergy members may attend this meeting or call the MPD at (520) 568-9098 for further information.

Wednesday, Sept. 12:
Maricopa Unified School District’s governing board meets for a study session at 5 p.m. and for their regular meeting at 6 p.m. in Room 1 at Maricopa High School on Honeycutt Ave.

Family Night for the Maricopa Elementary School Book Fair begins at 12:30 p.m. and lasts until 7 p.m. For further information contact school librarian Betty Johnson at (520) 568-5160, ext. 2115.

Representatives of the Maricopa M.A.S.H. Anti-Substance Abuse Coalition will attend the unveiling of the Arizona Meth Project’s ‘Not Even Once®’ Youth Pledge that traveled the state this summer collecting signatures from Arizona teens and young adults, each promising to never try meth, not even once.

The event will be held at the Arizona Science Center. Among the guest speakers will be Arizona Attorney General Terry Goddard and Navajo Nation First Lady Vikki Shirley.

Thursday, Sept. 13:
The Lady Rams of Maricopa High School will meet Tucson Empire for a home volleyball match scheduled for 6 p.m.

Networking Maricopa, a group of Chamber of Commerce men and women will meet at the Chamber office at 7 p.m. to share leads and do cross promotion. Each weekly group is limited to one company per profession. For more information, contact Chris at (480) 250-2915.

Friday, Sept. 14:
Maricopa High School’s varsity Ram football team travels to Coolidge for a 7 p.m. kickoff.

Saturday, Sept. 15:
Fire Department Maricopa will hold an all-day testing session, ending at 6 p.m., for firefighter positions. All testing will be done at Maricopa Wells Middle School.
