Beginning Monday (through Friday, Dec. 14) Maricopa residents can drive around the city and view the Holiday Homes on Parade decorations, using a map provided by the city on their Web site. Ten judges will vote on the entries, and residents are encouraged to either vote in person at city hall for the Residents Choice or email the contestant number to [email protected].

Maricopa High School winter sports are in full swing this week. Both boys’ and girls’ basketball games and soccer matches are scheduled, as well as a wrestling meet.

Monday, Nov. 26:

High school girls’ soccer plays at home today at 4:30 p.m. in a match with Scottsdale Christian.

The Rams boys’ soccer team will play at 6:30 p.m. at home against Wickenburg.

Maricopa’s Planning and Zoning Commission will meet at 5:30 p.m. at the Global Water facility.

The Maricopa Book Club will meet at 6 p.m. to discuss its next book, “Going After Cacciato,” by Tim O’Brien. The novel tells the story of a young soldier who one day lays down his rifle in Viet Nam and sets off on a quixotic journey from the jungles of Indochina to the streets of Paris. Everyone is invited to join the discussion and to help select next month’s book. Tuesday, Nov.27:

Everyone is welcome to stop by the Maricopa Community Library on Tuesday mornings from 9:30-11:30 a.m. to have a cup of coffee, a glass of lemonade and maybe a cookie or two, sponsored by the Friends of the Library. Their cookbook, “Home Cookin’ from Maricopa, Arizona” ($10) and Patricia Brock’s “Reflections of a Desert Town” ($25) are both available for purchase.

New Life Pregnancy Center offers free parenting classes on Tuesdays from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., during their regular weekly office hours. To schedule an appointment, call (520) 568-0612. Lessons cover prenatal care through the teen years.

Alcoholics Anonymous meets at 19235 W. Gunsmoke Road every Tuesday from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.

Maricopa Rams wrestling will be away at Canyon State Academy. Call the high school athletic office at (520) 568-8167 for the time.

High school girls’ basketball plays North Point Prep at 6:30 p.m. at home; the junior varsity team will play at 3:30 p.m. The boys’ team will also go up against North Point Prep at 8 p.m. with the junior varsity slated for 5 p.m.

Wednesday, Nov. 28:

La Leche League’s Pinal County West Group will meet in The Villages Clubhouse at 10 a.m. Pregnant women, mothers and children are welcome. Email [email protected] for more information.

Thursday, Nov. 29:

Rams boys’ basketball begins their Desert Edge Tournament today through Saturday away. Times will be announced.

Girls’ soccer will have at match at home today at 6 p.m. with Northwest Christian.

The boys’ soccer team will meet Antelope away at 6 p.m.

Networking Maricopa’s Thursday group meets at the offices of the Maricopa Chamber of Commerce. Networking Maricopa is a group of Chamber member men and women committed to support each other through lead sharing and cross promotion. Friday, Nov.30:

High school boys’ soccer travels to Miami High School for a 10 a.m. match.

Saturday, Dec.1:

Rams girls’ basketball plays Safford at home at 7 p.m.;the junior varsity scheduled to play at 5:30 p.m. and the freshmen at 4 p.m.
