Maricopa’s ‘Biggest Loser’ to speak at Chamber event

Maricopa resident Sione Fa, who recently starred on the reality TV show “The Biggest Loser,” will be the featured speaker at the Maricopa Chamber of Commerce’s Keynote Speaker Event on May 27.

Fa and his cousin Filipe Fa were contestants on NBC’s weight-loss challenge program (see related story). Although he was eliminated after Week 14, Fa, who started the show weighing 372 pounds, now weighs 235 pounds and has given up his small landscaping business to study to become a certified personal trainer. He plans to put what he learned while training for the competition to good use while helping others.

The Keynote Speaker Event will be held from 5:30-8 p.m. May 27 at Harrah’s Ak-Chin Casino Resort. Admission is $25 for Chamber members and $35 for non-members. Sponsorships are also available.
