Maricopa’s yearly unemployment rate averages 7 percent

The Arizona Department of Commerce has released its latest unemployment figures, showing the city of Maricopa with a slight increase.

In October Maricopa experienced a tenth of a percent increase in its unemployment rate, going from 8.5 percent to 8.6 percent.

This brings the average unemployment rate for the year to 7 percent.

The increase marks the seventh consecutive month the city has experienced a rise in unemployment, dating back to April when the rate was at 5.3 percent.

However, the trend isn’t confined just to Maricopa. Both Pinal County and the state as a whole have experienced an increase in unemployment rates since April.

The unemployment rate for Pinal County in October was 7.7 percent, and the overall rate for the state last month was 6.2 percent.

For the year, the average unemployment rate in Pinal County is 6.2 percent, and the yearly average for the state is 4.9 percent.
