Mayor will miss councilman’s compassion, vision

Maricopa City Council member Steve Baker resigned this week due to a newly accepted job offer that requires a move out of the city.

“This was a difficult decision, but one that serves the best interests of my family,” stated Councilman Baker. “It has been a privilege to serve the residents of Maricopa.”

Mayor Kelly Anderson stated that Baker’s compassion and vision will be missed. “It is due in part to Steve’s vision of downtown that the process is moving forward. His key initiative was future economic growth in the downtown area, and I want to thank him not only for this vision, but also for his service and dedication to the city of Maricopa.”

Steve Baker served three-and-a-half years on Maricopa’s City Council. His accomplishments include future planning for economic development and sustainability, and contributing to the establishment of the Maricopa Police Department.

Baker’s position on City Council will be vacant until Council appoints someone to the vacancy to fill out the remainder of his term.
