Meet your county and state candidates Tuesday, Aug.12

29

Campaign signs are on every corner at every intersection in Maricopa. On Tuesday, Aug. 12, Maricopans get the chance to meet the people behind the signage.

A meet the candidate forum will be held at the Global Water facility beginning at 7 p.m. The event is free to the public and presented by the Maricopa Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by Global Water and inmaricopa.com.

The evening’s moderator, Hal DeKeyser, is an editorial adviser and sometime contributor to inmaricopa.com. He is also the editor of InBuckeye.com.

Three candidates for the District 3 County Board of Supervisors position will be in attendance: Dennis Dugan, Tom Hollenbach, and incumbent David Snider.

Paul Babeu, Jayme Valenzuela and incumbent Chris Vasquez will be talking about their duties and responsibilities if elected County Sheriff.

The State House of Representatives race has no incumbent. Vying for that state office are: Dorian Bond, Ernest Bustamante, John Fillmore, Barb McGuire, Krista Pacion and Frank Pratt.

Andre Campos will be sharing the podium with incumbent Rebecca Rios; both are running for State Senate.

Candidates will be answering questions and giving opinions on various issues of relevance to local voters, particularly before the Sept. 2 Primary Election. If you are unable to attend, the forum will air live on Orbitel channel 20 with the program replayed during the following week.
