Miguel Moran, 45, died Feb. 17 in his Hidden Valley home. He had been a custodial employee with the Maricopa Unified School District and a groundskeeper with the city of Maricopa.

He is survived by his 17-year-old son Erik.

His niece Cynthia Aburto remembered Moran as a caring and “a fun-loving person. Anytime I needed a good laugh, I knew I could count on him.”

She said her uncle loved Maricopa and loved eating chorizo con huevos at Headquarters.

“You will forever be in our hearts and thoughts of my family and me,” Aburto said.

Moran’s nephew Zac Montalvo also recalled his uncle as a fun-loving man.

“The way I will be remembering him is with his glasses on, his brim hat and his boots ready to get down and dirty with his landscaping, and his bright cherry-red face since he was always in the sun,” Montalvo said. “(He) always was there willing to help out his family; he loved his friends and family so much.”
