Five more stores could be coming to the Southbridge Marketplace in the near future.
Glennwilde resident Kim Schock shared a screenshot of the development’s leasing plan on social media over the weekend, bringing a wave of reactions from locals.
“Cannibus and bread and bagels, I’m in trouble [sic],” Schock wrote.
“Einstein, Panera, Pilates and dispensary. Yes, some happiness for me,” wrote Homestead resident Sherry Dove. “A Del Taco would add more joy.”
Schock’s screenshot showed the logos of several new restaurants and retail stores pointing to storefronts at the shopping center. This included Panera Bread, Einstein Bros. Bagels, Five Guys Burgers and Fries, Club Pilates, European Wax Center and Pacific Dental Services.
While there are plenty of new food establishments moving into Maricopa, the pilates studio would be a first.
However, an expanded look at the document found on the Thompson Thrift website showed these locations are currently only proposed through a letter of intent or are designated as “at lease.” These two terms mean the properties are in the process of being leased or purchased by a prospective tenant.
Developer Thompson Thrift did not respond to multiple requests for comment.
Last week, Lowe’s Home Improvement began construction on its 139,000 square foot hardware store and garden center.
Other developments in the area includes a Trulieve dispensary just south of Honeycutt Avenue and the Overland, Waterman and Butterfield workforce and senior housing community. The dispensary across Honeycutt Avenue from the future Lowe’s, is not part of the Stonebridge development.
Aldi submitted preliminary plans to build a grocery store in the shopping center in June, but it has yet to be discussed or approved by the city.
