A family-owned Mexican restaurant, Cilantro’s Mexican Cocina, opened this week in Maricopa Fiesta shopping center.

A half dozen employees, most wearing bright green shirts, were busy serving customers late Wednesday afternoon and Thursday during the lunch rush.

Linda Quezada, who owns the restaurant with her husband, Juan, said they are getting good feedback from customers. They have a small menu that includes chicken, pork and beef entrees, and she said they want to keep it that way because their goal is to do a few things well.

“We want to make sure everything we serve is good,” she said. “These are our family recipes and we’ve gotten a few tips from friends.”

Maricopa resident Luly Guerrero was eating a burrito at Cilantro’s on Thursday.

“They have excellent food and good customer service,” she said.

She liked that the restaurant served different meats and described the food as authentic.

Cilantro’s has a fresh salsa bar and seating indoors and outdoors.

Juan Quezada called the restaurant “an easy concept, but something unique and different.”
