Number of speeding citations up last week

    Maricopa Police issed 93 traffic citations last week in connection with driving faster than is reasonable or prudent, up from 22 issued during the same time period last month (see “MPD issues 22 speeding citations”).

    The MPD on Wednesday reported the following citations and arrests which took place between April 18 and April 27:

    Liquor violations

    Operating a vehicle while consuming alcohol 4
    Underage drinking 1
    Driver’s possession of an open container in a vehicle 1
    Criminal violations
    Criminal damage 2
    Criminal trespassing 1
    Disorderly conduct/fighting 1
    Traffic violations
    Driving faster than is reasonable or prudent 93
    Failure to carry insurance 44
    Failure to carry registration 19
    Adult without a seatbelt 9
    Driving without a license 8
    Running a stop sign 8
    Failure to change address 6
    Suspended registration 5
    Driving while license suspended 5
    Driver’s license not in possession 5
    Expired Arizona registration 4
    Expired out-of-state registration 4
    Unsafe turn 3
    Running a red light 3
    Driving under the influence 3
