Orbitel adds Mountain West HD College Football channel

Orbitel Communications announced today that it will be expanding its HD Channel lineup to its customers in Maricopa with the addition of MTN HD.

MTN HD will carry all 30 Mountain West Conference college football games in HD this season, starting with the Colorado vs. Colorado State “Rocky Mountain Showdown” game Saturday Sept. 4 at noon local time. 

Orbitel is the only TV provider serving Maricopa to carry MTN and now will be the only provider offering this programming to Maricopa residents in HD. MTN is available to Orbitel digital customers on channel 145 and the new MTN HD will be available to HD customers on channel 945. Neither  DirecTV or Dish offer MTN to their customers. 

“We are very excited to add high definition MTN college football this year on channel 945HD, at no additional cost to our HD customers,” said Gina Linville, Orbitel vice president of operations and customer service. MTN premiered in 2006 as the first network dedicated to a college athletic conference. “Orbitel carries MTN as part of the Digital Cable TV package because so many Maricopa residents have ties to the Mountain West conference areas and love sports,” she added.

In addition to MTN, Orbitel’s digital cable TV service includes five additional channels that provide outstanding coverage of college sports, including the Big Ten Network (146 / 946HD), Fox College Sports (FCS) Atlantic (147), FCS Central (148), FCS Pacific (149) and ESPNU (152 / 952 HD).

The MTN HD channel will be available only during the 30 football games this fall.  At this time MTN has not announced plans for expanded HD programming. All games begin no earlier than noon and no later than 8 p.m., making for ideal family viewing or recording.

The Mountain West NCAA Division 1 colleges are: Air Force Academy, Brigham Young University, Colorado State, University of Utah, San Diego State, Texas Christian University, UNLV, University of New Mexico and University of Wyoming.
