Catch a play this week. The city of Maricopa Parks and Recreation Division presents Maricopa Community Theater’s production of Oscar Wilde’s “The Importance of Being Earnest,” which opens on Friday, April 9, at the lecture hall at Maricopa High School, 45012 W. The cast for this classic production includes four high school students, a college student and four adults from the community, noted director Carrie Vargas.

“We are hoping for a great turnout,” Vargas said. “This cast has invested a lot of time in preparing for this production. We have been able to put this production on for practically nothing. We are very excited to be partnering with the city in order to bring theatre to Maricopa and we look forward to continuing this self-sustaining program.”

The play will be also be presented on April 10, 8:30 p.m., April 16, at 8:30 p.m. and April 17, at 2 and 8 p.m. Tickets are $8 and can be ordered online at Maricopa-az.gov.
