Over 2,000 kids find fun at 5th annual Easter EGGstravaganza

The Easter Bunny and his Community of Hope Church helpers were at Pacana Park Saturday morning for the fifth annual Easter EGGstravaganza.

Approximately 2,000 children, their parents, grandparents, as well as older and younger siblings turned out for the free event.

Parents snapped photos of their children with the Easter Bunny. Then the kids were off to follow a Midway of Easter games. Each child won a prize for participating in every carnival game, including bunny croquet, an egg and spoon race, beanbag toss, wheel of cavities and a fishing pond, to name just a few.

Kids and adults could also decorate cardboard Easter eggs and have their faces painted, and four bounce houses provided jumping fun.

Hunts featured hundreds of plastic eggs, each redeemable for candy. Children from one year old through fifth grade hunted in separate areas at 20-minute intervals.

An on-site petting zoo included miniature pigs, chickens, ducks, burros, rabbits and goats.
The festivities began at 10 a.m. and ended at 1 p.m. when many happy Maricopa children went home with full baskets of candy and prizes.
