Maricopa Fire & Medical responded to a report of a structure fire on Monday morning, but pressure quickly simmered down when crews discovered an overheated appliance was the culprit.

At about 9:50 a.m., Maricopa Fire & Medical responded to a home on Bahia Drive in Acacia Crossings.

“When we got here, we found a light haze, and we established a small electrical appliance that had overheated,” said MFMD Fire Captain Nathan Maxcy, “The structure wasn’t on fire, nothing was actually on fire. It was just an appliance putting off smoke.”

Maricopa Fire and Medical Department has not announced if there were any injuries at this time.
