Beginning this week new fees have been implemented for passport application services.

For passport books for adults, the new fees are $135. This includes a charge of $110 payable to the Department of State and $25 payable to the acceptance facility. For minors, the charges are now $105.

For passport cards, the new fee is $55. This includes a charge of $30 payable to the Department of State and $25 payable to the acceptance facility. For minors, the charge is $40.

These fees are for first-time applicants. The passport fees for adults eligible to apply by mail, using form DS-82, “Application for a US Passport by Mail,” are $100 for the passport book and $30 for the passport card.

Residents in Maricopa can now apply for a passport by visiting City Hall. To obtain a passport, applicants need to be U.S. citizens by birth or naturalization, submit an original or certified copy of proof of citizenship with the completed application, provide two identical passport pictures and present valid identification.

In an effort to enhance security and efficiency at U.S. borders, the U.S. government is now enforcing new passport requirements for all travelers entering or re-entering the United States from Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean and Bermuda. Travel between the U.S. and U.S. territories (including Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands) will not be affected.
