PCSO hosting Crime Free Rental House Training Oct. 29

38

Pinal County Sheriff’s Office will host a free two-hour training program on Crime Free Rental Housing at 6 p.m. Oct. 29 at the PCSO Florence headquarters.

The two-hour session will be an introductory course for the extended eight-hour program, which focuses on preparing property so it does not attract criminals. Topics covered include: how to screen prospective renters legally; how to evict problem renters quickly; how to build a partnership with law enforcement and other general crime prevention concepts for landlords.

The program is geared toward landlords, realtors and property management companies; however, anyone interested is welcome to attend. Additionally, while PCSO will be hosting a similar Crime Free Business program at a later date, business owners can glean information out of the Crime Free Rental Housing program; some of the principles can also be applied to businesses.

The program will be taught by Timothy Zehring, founder and executive director of the International Crime Free Association. Piloted by the Mesa Police Department in 1992, the Crime Free programs have spread through the International Crime Free Association to more than 2,000 cities in the United States, Canada and several other countries. The training provided to the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office and citizens of Pinal County is provided at no cost.

Please contact PCSO Public Information Officer Vanessa White at (520) 866-5217 or [email protected] for more information. Seating is limited, so reservations are strongly recommended.
