The trails leading to the top of Flat Iron in the Superstition Mountains, where a small plane crashed Wednesday killing all six passengers, are now open.

Though the trails are open, the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office and other agencies investigating the crash are asking the public to be respectful and not touch or remove anything from the crash site.

In respect to the victims’ families, the site should be treated as a living memorial.

Authorities have already received a call from a hiker who took it upon himself to visit the scene and recover a piece of bone fragment. The hiker brought the fragment to the Lost Dutchman ranger station and left it with no contact information.
