The city of Maricopa is hoping to have the new police substation operating at the Copper Sky Recreation Complex by January 2016.
The construction plan is on the agenda for the City Council meeting tonight. If Mayor Christian Price and the other members of the council approve the plan, construction could start as soon as next week.
“The contract hasn’t been signed yet,” Public Works Director Bill Fay said. “If it gets signed, they want to start construction within a week. They’re hoping to have the substation open by January.”
The portion of the property the Maricopa Police Department is looking to build on is located on the corner of Bowlin Road and Greythorn Drive. The substation would allow MPD officers to improve response time and efficiency to a larger radius of the city.
