The Fourth of July, or Independence Day, commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence and America’s 13 colonies’ freedom from British rule.

InMaricopa published a poll asking readers, “How proud are you to be American on Independence Day?”

About three out of five (62%) of the 124 voters said they are “extremely proud.” Thirteen percent described themselves as “proud,” and 14% marked “indifferent.” More than one in 10 said they are “reluctant” (6%) or “disdainful” (5%).
