POLL RECAP - Holiday buying

Let’s face it: 2020 has been one tough year.

With less than three weeks to go till Christmas, we thought we’d ask what kind of holiday spending you plan this year. We wondered if people might be planning to spend more to compensate for months of coronavirus misery or spending less due to economic impacts from the pandemic.

We received 101 votes in our informal poll, which asked, “How will your holiday spending this year compare to last year?”

Nearly half of the respondents (47) said they would spend “about the same” on holiday presents this year as they did last year.

But about a quarter of respondents (24) said they would spend “much less” this year. Fourteen more said they would spend less – but a “little less.”

Fifteen people said they would spend more this year, with 12 of those indicating they would spend a “little more.” The other three said they will spend a “lot more” this holiday.

Typically, our polls generate at least a few comments on Facebook. Not this week, so we leave you with this anonymous quote: “It’s not what’s under the Christmas tree that matters, it’s who is around it.”
