Maricopa Center for Entrepreneurship announced “Art in the City,” Maricopa’s first ever “pop-up” art gallery, Feb 4-8.

“Art in the City” includes three different venues and events to view the work of Maricopa artists.

“The arts help nourish human development and that type of artistic expression helps to connect and strengthen the city,” Mayor Christian Price said. “Not only do they enhance our city’s reputation, but they can provide a wonderful catalyst for economic development. I am excited that this event is taking place in Maricopa and I am in full support of all our local artists. I am looking forward to seeing everything at ‘Art in the City.’”

The first event will be Feb. 4 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Maricopa Center for Entrepreneurship, 20800 N. John Wayne Parkway, Suite 108, and will feature the art of local artist Anthony Gonzales.

Anthony is a Maricopa High School alumnus and volunteers each month at Pima Butte Elementary School to teach art classes for the students. His Dali-esque art will be featured throughout the month of February at the center’s gallery.

Following MCE’s Art&Entrepreneur, on Feb. 5, Anthony Tremonto, owner of Studio ADT in Phoenix will be hosting a workshop at MCE for Maricopa’s artists from 6 to 7:30 p.m. He will be exposing the “Business of Art”, and how artists can sell and market their art without sacrificing their style. The class is designed for Maricopa artists but is open to the public.

On Feb. 6, starting at 5:30 p.m., Bead & Berry Coffeehouse will be hosting the Spotlight Showcase opening of their juried gallery. Join them for live music from the Maricopa Music Circle, food and brilliant artwork! Then walk a few doors down to Suite 104 and check out the “pop-up” gallery for “Art in the City”, featuring the photography, paintings, drawings, bead work, sculpture and more from Maricopa’s finest. The “pop-up” will be open Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.
