The tennis courts at Pacana Park will be closed from May 7 – 25. The closure is the result of area teens causing vandalism on the courts.

Recently, Parks and Recreation staff discovered that a group of teens have broken the hand crank and wire cabling used to keep the tennis courts net set at their proper height. The teens were lowering the net so they could jump over the net with their skateboards. The City of Maricopa PRL Department would like to remind parents to please keep track of their children/teens when visiting the park.

The City of Maricopa Parks, Recreation and Libraries Department is hosting a Teen Teambuilding Workshop in Oracle on June 16 – 17. The PRL Department is looking to take 35 dedicated and committed teenagers on this life-altering trip. The registration fee is $50 per teenager and includes: round trip transportation to and from the C.O.D Ranch, lunch and dinner Saturday and breakfast, lunch and a snack on Sunday.

The PRL Department has invited Hans and Ann Rasmussen from R&R Teambuilding in Colorado to attend the team-building workshop. Hans and Ann have more than 15 years of experience working with teenagers and know how to connect with teenagers all over the United States.

This camp is an opportunity for teens to learn how to interact more effectively with their peers as well as staff. They will grow in confidence and competence in working with people. They will become better leaders. The overnight workshop will cover three major subjects: Respect, Risk, and Resolving Conflicts. Don¹t miss out on this opportunity!! Scholarships available.

Registration for this program closes June 1. To learn more about the program please visit http://www.cityofmaricopa.net/ and click on “Summer Activator” to download a registration form.
