Property tax rates decrease, no help for Maricopans

49

The primary property tax is composed of rates charged by the county, school district and city.

The Pinal County Board of Supervisors approved an 18-cent reduction in its portion of the primary property tax nearly two weeks ago.

The reduction will reduce the property tax on a home valued at $100,000 by $18.39. This is the fourth year in a row that county government has lowered the property tax rate.

The city of Maricopa reduced its property tax by 34 cents, and the school district cut its rate by 46 cents.

Despite the reductions, Maricopans will see no tax relief because the city of Maricopa is above the state allowable property tax rate.
