The weekend in Maricopa is expected to be so rainy, the forecast caused the postponement of a popular farm tour. According to the National Weather Service, there is 90% chance of rain on Saturday.

For the sake of its visitors, the Arid-Land Agricultural Research Center at University of Arizona and Maricopa Agricultural Center has decided to delay the Farm Science Day until March 21. While today has nearly perfect weather, the skies will begin to change overnight.

Today, the forecast calls for sunny skies with a high near 81 degrees F. Tonight will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 56 and breezes of 5-15 mph gusting up to 20 mph.

Friday, expect partly sunny skies with a high near 79 and winds of 10-15 mph gusting up to 25 mph. Friday night, there is 60% chance of rain, mainly after 11 p.m., and a low around 55.

Saturday, showers are highly likely and possibly a thunderstorm. Chance of precipitation is 90%, and the high will be near 70 as winds of 10-15 mph gust up to 25. Rainfall could be a quarter of an inch to half an inch. The overnight low will be around 43 as the possibility for rain drops to 30%, though the wind will continue.

Sunday, the forecast sees a sunny day with a high near 67 and calm winds. The night is likely to be clear with a low around 42 under clear skies.

There will be lots of sun to start the week as the temperatures climb back into the mid’70s.
