The Maricopa Republican Club donated $1,500 generated from its golf tournament to two organizations this week.

On Tuesday, the club presented a $500 check to Tails of Hope/Pet Social Worker, a non-profit organization operated by Kimberly Diedrich that provides food, medical care, vaccinations and adoption services for lost or abandoned pets.

Maricopa’s Parks and Recreation Division also benefited, receiving $1,000 from the club at Tuesday’s City Council meeting.

The golf tournament, held May 16 at the Duke at Rancho El Dorado, drew more than 60 golfers. The event included a raffle and silent auction featuring items donated by local and national merchants, with one attendee winning a Sam Adam’s golf gift package worth $500.

“The Maricopa Republican Club, due to the leadership of Marty and Brenda Hermanson and with the help of its many volunteers and the staff at The Duke, had a very successful event and will be able to significantly assist two local organizations,” said club vice president Mike Robertson in a statement. “We are very thankful to everyone that helped make this event such an incredible success.”
