Salsa and wings highlight Maricopa weekend

Minerva Hendrix, winner of the 2007 Salsa Festival’s overall best salsa, is inviting Maricopans to stop by her Allstate insurance office and experience the taste all over again.

The event, from 1-3 p.m. Saturday Aug. 4, will be a celebration of salsa, and there will be plenty of her green salsa on hand for tasting and a raffle for five Mason jars of the recipe to take home. It will be at Allstate Insurance office, 20928 N. John Wayne Parkway, #C9 in the
Bashas’ Shopping Center (520-568-2270).

Parks, Recreation and Libraries Director Marty McDonald, who is responsible for the success of the 2007 Salsa Festival, expects to be on hand to pull the winning tickets. Surprise guests and entertainment can be expected throughout the event. Families are welcome. There will be trinkets for the kids.

Join Native New Yorker in celebrating its second anniversary. This three day event kicks off Friday Aug. 3 and runs through Sunday Aug. 5.

Highlights include: Giving away a 42″ HDTV, free wings for a year and a Monday football party for six.

The drawing will be Sunday Night at 8 p.m. They will be having specials all weekend. Sundays highlight will be cream for the kids and a magician every night from 5 to 8.
