Santa and Mrs. Claus coming to Maricopa Friday via fire truck

Santa and Mrs. Claus will be back in Maricopa Friday for their fifth annual 12 Days of Christmas with Mr. and Mrs. Claus.

The duo will arrive atop a lights-flashing and sirens-blaring Maricopa Fire Department truck at 6 p.m. on Nov. 26 at the home of Rich and Linda Huggins in Desert Cedars.

Each year the couple transforms their garage into Santa’s living room, complete with a fireplace and their dog atop the mantle. Last year more than 750 children visited over the 12 days. This year, with the sponsorship and assistance of Orbitel Communications, Santa hopes more than 1,000 will come!

There is no charge to visit with Santa; instead, families are asked to bring non-perishable food items or unwrapped toys which will be donated to F.O.R. Maricopa, a food bank benefiting Maricopa families.

“The spirit of spreading joy in our community and helping those less fortunate is the essence of the holiday season,” says Linda Huggins. “Nobody should have to pay to see Santa and no family should have to go hungry”

Children may bring Santa their wish lists, and parents may bring cameras to take photographs.

“We hope to help Santa and Mrs. Claus achieve more than four truckloads of items for the food bank,” said Keith Kirkman, Orbitel President /CEO. Orbitel Communications is donating a small toy for each child visiting Santa and spreading the word in Maricopa by providing Santa with a local website www.maricopasanta.com.  Each child will also receive a candy cane, courtesy of Maricopa resident Ted Yocum.
