Shining Stars a project of hope at MUSD

Maricopa Unified School staff members and the Maricopa community began the second annual Project Hope Shining Stars Toy Drive on Dec. 2.

Staff and community members were asked to come to the District Office and pick a student’s name from the ‘Shining Stars’ ornaments on the Christmas Tree located in the front lobby.  Participants were then asked to purchase a present for the child who will then receive the gift during the week of Dec. 15-19.

Project Hope supports K-12 students in the district who are experiencing homelessness.

In addition, employees from the Wells Fargo’s Auto Finance Department in Tempe helped to support Project Hope by placing toy collection boxes at their office location.  Staff from Wells Fargo assisted the drive on Tuesday by coming to the District Office and wrapping the students’ presents during the day.

District Homeless Liaison Teri Ponticello stated in her promotional flyer, “Thank you for helping to provide a happier holiday for our students who would otherwise go without!”
