Maricopa just got a shot in the arm. Southwestern Pediatrics hosted a ribbon cutting this week, making the practice the first dedicated local pediatric office in the city.

The ribbon cutting was attended by many of Maricopa’s business owners as well as Mayor Anthony Smith, councilwoman Marquisha Griffin and Maricopa Chamber of Commerce executive director Terri Kingery.

Southwestern Pediatrics medical staff is headed up by Dr. Charles R. Martin Jr., MD, and Sultan Y. Ayoub F.N.P.

Martin received his training at the Phoenix Children’s Hospital/Maricopa Medical Center Joint Pediatric Internship and Residency Program in Phoenix. He has been a practicing pediatrician in the Valley for 15 years. The Maricopa location will be the sister office of their existing practice in Gilbert, which located on South Val Vista Drive.

A physician-review site had only positive comments concerning Martin. “Dr. Martin is great with the kids, and very knowledgeable,” wrote one parent. “He takes care of my three kids (ages 15, 8 and 1) and they love him. He has been our pediatrician for the past 7 years, and we are very lucky!” Another parent wrote: “Dr Martin is a breath of fresh air. He is a kind and wonderful man. He takes his time to give you all the information you need and want.”

Southwestern Pediatrics is located at 21300 N John Wayne Pkwy #109. For more information and other inquiries, contact office coordinator Karissa Warren at 520-568-9500.
