State senate candidate discusses issues with Maricopa mayor

Steve Smith (a Tea-Party Republican candidate running for state senator) met with the mayor of Maricopa, Anthony Smith, to discuss many of the issues facing the city, including transportation, jobs and the ever-growing cost of utilities.

“Meeting with the mayor in his office was very important to me,” commented Smith.  “Although I am a resident of Maricopa and am certainly aware of some of the issues the city is facing, it was imperative for me to hear what the mayor himself thought about these issues and what actions he was taking to solve them, and, of course, to offer some of my ideas as possible solutions as well”.

Smith also congratulated the mayor on being newly re-elected and for his unwavering commitment to bring new business and jobs to Maricopa.

“With the addition of Wal-Mart last year, the new public library, the soon to be built Holiday Inn Express hotel and with many other exciting projects on the horizon, the mayor has helped bring both infrastructure and jobs to Maricopa, and for that he should certainly be commended. The mayor has accomplished a great deal of success thus far and, in my opinion, will continue to do so for many years to come. That being said though, we must still continue to find solutions to solve the transportation and utility challenges this city faces.”

State senate candidate Steve Smith (an ardent Christian, pro-life conservative known for his tough stance on illegal immigration) has, in various speeches throughout Pinal County, offered his solution to combat the utility price hike from companies like Electrical District 3 and Global Water.

That solution is to first correct Arizona’s budget deficit by stopping all state funding of illegal aliens, a move that would correct the deficit and yield a tremendous budget surplus. A portion of the surplus would then be allocated to provide solar panels to homes in Arizona, which would directly reduce the homeowners’ utility bills (saving each household potentially thousands of dollars per year) all while adding value to their homes.
