Convicted sex offenders’ risk of recidivism is assessed by law enforcement and labeled as Level 1, 2 or 3. Law enforcement meets with Levels 1 offenders annually, Level 2s semi-annually, Level 3s quarterly and monthly for offenders who are homeless.

The Notification is Prevention Foundation offers these safety tips:
1. Show offender photographs to your family and make them aware of the offender’s presence in the area.
2. Maintain current ID including photograph, video and fingerprints of your children.
3. Maintain current addresses and phone numbers of your children’s friends.
4. Do not advertise your children’s names on clothing, school supplies or backpacks.
5. Ensure your children knows your phone number and how to call home and dial 9-1-1.
