Summer camp operation provides respite for parents

66

For generations parents have been sending their children off to summer camp when they wanted some peace and quiet.

Now residents of Maricopa can do the same.

At least in the day time they can.

Maricopa resident Amy Drorbaugh is starting to offer summer day camp classes for children ages 2 to 6 throughout July.

The two-hour classes will be Monday, Wednesday and Friday and cost $10 a day for one child or $15 a day for two children.

If the child attends all three sessions, it costs $25 or $45 for two children to attend all three sessions.

Each week will have a different theme, focusing on things like the seasons, the senses and different animals.

During the camp kids will also sing songs, play games, make crafts, have a healthy snack and even learn.

“It is a great opportunity for the kids to have some fun and the parents to get a break,” Drorbaugh said.

Drorbaugh herself is a mother of two, and has been taking care of children in her home for several years.

Class sizes are capped at 10 kids, so registration is required, she said.
