I-10 closed in both directions after tanker trucks collide

A collision between two tanker trucks on Interstate 10 near the Loop 202 interchange this morning has closed traffic on 1-10 in both directions.

A tanker dairy truck rear ended another tanker truck carrying a diesel gas byproduct, said Bart Graves, a spokesman for the Arizona Department of Public Safety. The collision occurred on westbound I-10 at Chandler Boulevard.

Graves said the driver of the milk tanker died and the closure could last for several hours.

Ahwatukee resident Joe Giumette was with his wife at a restaurant at 40th Street and Chandler Boulevard when he heard sirens. Giumette was about a mile from the scene and got close enough to take photos.
