There’s a new food server at Denny’s restaurant in Maricopa.

He can carry three trays of food at once and silently glides down the aisles to smiling customers sitting at tables.

He’s endearingly known as “Robbie” among staffers at the Maricopa Denny’s on John Wayne Parkway, and he’s a robot.

With the push of a table number on his control panel, Robbie is programmed to head down the aisle to a specific table. Robbie automatically navigates his way to the right table, where a human server pulls food dishes and places them before customers.

One Denny’s staffer said he was not concerned about losing his job, seeing the robot as more of a friendly customer draw to Denny’s.

The restaurant’s owner did not respond to requests for comment.
