Here’s what’s coming up this week. You are invited to attend some of these local, scheduled events:

Monday, August 6: All employees are invited to attend Maricopa Unified School District’s ‘Welcome Back’ breakfast and training at 7:30 a.m. It will be held in the Maricopa Wells Middle School cafeteria.

Tuesday, August 7: District 3 Supervisor David Snider will be at City Hall, 45145 W. Madison Ave., from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. for his monthly office hours. To schedule time to speak with Snider, call his office at (520) 836-0003.

City Council meets at 6 p.m. for a work session and at 7 p.m. for the regular meeting at the Global Water facility east of Rancho El Dorado. Equipment additions for the Maricopa Policy Department and personnel policy changes are on the agenda.

Wednesday, August 8: The governing board of the Maricopa Unified School District will meet in Room 1 at the high school. A work session is scheduled for 5 p.m. with the regular meeting following at 6 p.m.

Thursday, August 9: Networking Maricopa, a group of Chamber of Commerce men and women will meet at the Chamber office at 7 p.m. to share leads and do cross promotion. Each weekly group is limited to one company per profession. For more information, contact Chris at (480) 250-2915.

Friday, August 10: Santa Cruz Elementary school at Tortosa will host the dedication of its brand new facility at 4:30 p.m., prior to “Meet the Teacher Night.”

“Meet the Teacher Night” will be held at ALL elementary schools in the district from 5 – 7 p.m.

Maricopa Cub Scout Packs 997 and 983 will be at the “Meet the Teacher Night” events. Boys from the ages of 6 – 11 are invited to join the fun and adventure of Cub Scouting.

Saturday, August 11: A free health fair sponsored by the Maricopa Chamber of Commerce will be available to the general public from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Global Water facility on N. Powers Pkway, east of Rancho El Dorado. Specialists in most health and nutrition fields will be available.

All week: Registration for the 2007 Fall Soccer season continues at City Hall from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The registration deadline is Friday, September 28, at 5 p.m. The fee of $45 for children ages 4-15 includes a soccer jersey, matching shorts, matching socks, a trophy and an end of the season party.
