Thrift store to close in March

The Nifty Thrifty Thrift Store in the Maricopa Business Center on Honeycutt Road is winding down its business.

Owner John Zolyniak is liquidating his inventory with mark downs on many items and plans to close the store at the end of March.

Zolyniak opened the Nifty Thrifty three years ago and said he has enjoyed operating the store, but it was not profitable. Along with “chasing good money after bad,” he said there have been some illnesses in his family that added to the challenge.

“It’s time to hang it up,” said Zolyniak, who opened the store with his family after he retired from working for 49 years at a steel foundry in Tempe.
