In just a matter of weeks, EVR Porter will begin welcoming its first tenants.

The 194-unit townhome complex at Porter and Bowlin roads showed off its progress Friday morning. Developer El Dorado Holdings is wrapping up construction on its first few rental homes, said construction director Adam Walter.

“Right now, we’re on track to open up our first home in September and have it leased,” Walter said. “It will be really exciting for us.”

Previously known as REV@Porter, the gated community will be composed of one-, two- and three-bedroom units with enclosed backyards. Homes will feature 11-foot ceilings and smart home devices, such as a video doorbell and thermostat.

Innovative features won’t stop there. Each of the buildings are constructed of HercuWalls, a green alternative to traditional wood-frame construction.

Modular foam panels act as the shell for steel and concrete exterior walls. This makes for more efficient construction, said HercuTech’s vice president of construction Greg Garrison.

“Compared to traditional construction, (it’s) better, faster, stronger,” he said.

This translates to greater insulation, better soundproofing and durable construction for future residents, said Walter.

“We’re going to really start feeling the positives when we put people in these homes because the energy efficiency of this style of building is so much better than typical two-by-four framing,” Walter said. “They’ll be really happy when they open up their utility bills and see they can keep their homes cool without burning a hole through their wallet.”
