Truett family hosting holiday boutique to help purchase seizure dog for Justin

The Truett family is hosting a holiday boutique December 4, continuing their quest to raise nearly $20,000 for the purchase of a seizure alert dog for their adopted son Justin.

“We encourage Maricopa residents to come out and help us make Justin’s Christmas dream come true,” said Justin’s mother, Desiree Truett.

The boutique is being held at the Truett’s home, 19521 N. Ventana Lane, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday.

On hand will be a host of vendors including Creative Memories, Tupperware, Pampered Chef, Heritage Makers, Scentsy Candles, Lia Sophia, Barefoot Books and Mary Kay.

“This is the perfect opportunity to do some Christmas shopping and help a good cause, too,” Truett said.

Justin has congenital cytomegalovirus, profound cognitive delay, seizure disorder cerebral palsy and microcephaly, meaning he has a small head. The long list of disorders means Justin can’t hold his head up properly and must wear braces to keep the bones in his ankles and wrists from fusing. His vocal abilities are limited, and he cannot eat on his own.

The family hopes the dog will help to alert them when Justin has silent seizures, so they can adjust his medications accordingly and prolong the youth’s life.
